
To be fair, the same was true when I tested the kitchen-specific IKEA Home Planner and Punch Software’s Home & Landscape Design NexGen 3.

When I was creating my imaginary abode, I was able to fudge on the details a bit whenever necessary, but when held to a more exacting standard, I found the experience frustrating.

That’s because I found it cumbersome to place all of the existing elements, like cabinets, sinks, and load-bearing walls, in their exact location.

Home Designer Software will look and function similar to Chief Architect, and there is file compatibility between the two product lines. Home Designer products are based on Chief Architect Premier with a limited feature set. The results were less impressive when I tried to use the software to remodel my existing kitchen. Home Designer Software is designed specifically for the DIY home enthusiast. The result was impressive, especially when viewed with the application’s 3D capability.

The exterior backgrounds can be 3D images forming a skybox. Quick and easy access making your work more efficient! When a hyperlink is added to an element, the right-click menu will now be updated to include Open Current Link that will go directly to the first hyperlink in the element’s list without having to open the object’s properties dialog. This will make models and working drawings more accurate! When defining a double door, you can now set the door to have both leaves active or only the right or left leaf operable. This precision visual aid makes inserting elements on an angle much easier. When you move your cursor on an angle, the onscreen dynamic dimensions will report the angle. The realism that baked lighting will add to a scene will make your presentations even better! When entering Presentation Mode, you can generate and save a baked lightmap to reuse in a space so when presenting to clients later it has an even more realistic feel. Search is a great new tool to make your work easier!
